Homeowners insurance:
If your home is damaged or even destroyed, homeowners insurance protects you from the financial consequences. It typically covers damage caused by fire, tap water and storms. If you also insure yourself against damage caused by natural disasters, you'll have nothing to fear when it floods or rains heavily. Caveat: The amount of insurance you take out must match the value of everything in your home, including your four walls - otherwise you are underinsured.
Home contents insurance:
Your furnishings have more than just sentimental value? Home contents insurance covers everything that would fall down if you turned your house upside-down: furniture, clothing and other valuables. Insured causes include fire, lightning, leaking tap water, storm and burglary. You can tailor your insurance cover by selecting available add-ons: You have an expensive bike? Select the bike coverage and your bike is protected from theft.
Private liability insurance:
Mishaps and accidents are part of life. If you damage someone else's mobile phone, you usually have to pay for it out of your own pocket. But the amount gets a lot bigger if you cause injury to another person – especially if they're incapacitated as a result. This is where personal liability insurance comes in. It won't take away the shock, but it will protect you from the financial consequences of damage to property and assets as well as causing injury to other people.
Mobility insurance:
Not everything that's compulsory in life has to be a necessary evil: Motor vehicle insurance protects you from financial ruin. Because if you damage someone else's property with your car, this obligatory protection is a blessing. Partially comprehensive insurance covers damage to your own vehicle as well. But fully comprehensive insurance covers damage to your vehicle when you are at fault or through acts of vandalism.
Private health insurance:
Every person living or working in Switzerland is required to have statutory health insurance. Basic medical care for illnesses, accidents or pragnancy is covered by this basic insurance. For everything that goes beyond this, there are voluntary supplementary insurances. With these, you can choose from numerous additional coverages and benefit from individual treatments - for example, for glasses, alternative medicine or recovery cures.
Private pension:
Almost everyone who enters working life today will have to worry a little more than previous generations about growing old. The statutory pension alone isn't enough to provide for old age. No matter if you're self-employed or have statutory pension insurance: with private pension insurance, you're financially secure and can keep doing everything you love even in old age.
Term life:
When a family member dies, they leave a big gap behind. And grieving families often have to worry about their finances: with one salary gone, there's a lot less money coming in. Spouses and partners are entitled to a widow's or widower's pension. However, this payment is rarely enough to cover the costs incurred. With term life insurance, you can provide financial security for your loved ones should the worst ever happen to you, so they don't have to worry about money.
Death benefit insurance:
Nobody likes to think about death. But in the event of an emergency, you can at least spare your loved ones financial worries. Should you die as the insured person, death insurance pays out an agreed sum to your surviving dependants and contributes to their financial security. At the same time, you can save assets with a death insurance policy and make arrangements for your old age.
Pet Health:
Even if you take the best care of your four-legged friend, sometimes they still need to go to see a vet. If your furry friend suddenly falls ill and needs medication or an operation, things can get expensive quick. Luckily, this is where pet health insurance jumps in, ensuring you don't have to pay for all the expensive treatment and surgery costs yourself.
Travel Health:
If you like to travel a lot, the idea of getting sick whilst travelling might not be the first thing on your mind. But what happens if you do get sick? At best, your health insurance will cover your treatment costs, but only within Europe and it won't cover everything. Health insurance for international travel covers all the costs for treatment, repatriation, recovery and much more – all for a great price.
